Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) can be a very effective tool for work injury prevention, medical management and disability management.  The cost of a workers' compensation claim can be significantly reduced with  accurate, reliable and valid testing. 

An FCE is performed following a work-related injury to answer the following referral questions:

• Can the injured worker return to regular work?
• If unable to return to regular duty, what restrictions are necessary for a return to modified duty?
• What progress has the injured worker made in their physical rehabilitation program?
• Is the injured worker displaying behaviors that are consistent with symptom magnification or malingering?

The length of an FCE is typically two to four hours.  A validity profile is performed for all tests to ensure that the worker is exerting maximal effort.
